St. John's Prep to Host Walk for Hospice
Daily Item of Lynn

DANVERS — Lynn resident Erica Aylward has formed Team Shellie’s Angels to honor the memory of her mother, Shellie Nee, and to say thank you to Care Dimensions for providing the very best care to her mother when she was a hospice patient in 2011.

Shellie’s Angels will take part in the Walk for Hospice to benefit Care Dimensions on Sunday at St. John’s Prep in Danvers. “It’s such a close-knit community event,” Aylward said. “This Walk for Hospice is different from most because we’ve all had similar experiences and are remembering someone we’ve lost. My family really felt a connection at the walk.”

Throughout the year Aylward, along with her family and friends, also creates fleece blankets to donate to the Kaplan Family Hospice House. Said Aylward, “the Kaplan House staff made the most difficult experience of our lives more manageable and comfortable.

“It was the next best thing to having Mom at home. Everyone should be able to leave the earth in a place like that.” Over the past five year’s Shellie’s Angels has raised over $5,000, and it is hoping for a strong turnout at this year’s Walk. Care Dimensions (formerly Hospice of the North Shore & Greater Boston) is the most comprehensive provider of hospice care for adults and children with advanced illness in Massachusetts.
