Care Dimensions Honors Veterans with Gifts, Resource Guide

November 4, 2022

In recognition of Veterans Day and National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, Care Dimensions is honoring seriously ill veterans in our hospice care with a special gift and offering a free resource guide to veterans throughout Massachusetts.

Care Dimensions staff and volunteers are delivering gift bags containing a donated handmade afghan, a patriotic coffee cup, and a “Stars for our Troops” package to more than 100 veterans receiving hospice care in Eastern Massachusetts.

“It’s important our veterans know that their military service – whether it was in a time of war or peace – is greatly appreciated,” said Care Dimensions President and CEO Stephanie Patel, MD.  “We’re grateful to Diane Donnellan and her group, Hugcrafters – a collaborative of crafters from across the country – and other volunteers who have donated their handiwork in support of veterans,” she added.

Care Dimensions also is pleased to share a free online resource guide, Veteran Benefits and Resources for Hospice and Palliative Care Patients. This comprehensive guide is designed to help patients and families identify, understand, and acquire appropriate Veteran benefits. It was compiled and reviewed by the National Partnership for Healthcare and Hospice Innovation and customized by Care Dimensions with information that is specific to Massachusetts.

“All seriously ill veterans should have access to benefit education and support to help ensure quality care wherever they live,” said Dr. Patel. The guide can be downloaded for free at www.CareDimensions.org/VeteransResources.
