Care Dimensions Accepts Five Nurses in Innovative Nurse Residency Program

October 13, 2021

Danvers, MA – Care Dimensions welcomes five nurses to its innovative Nurse Residency Program. New to hospice and palliative care, they have begun their intensive training to develop new expertise, which includes a combination of classroom lectures, field observations and a controlled caseload of patients guided by a dedicated preceptor. Our newest nurses join the ranks of 35 nurses who already have completed the residency program, which began in 2015.

Beverly resident Kristine Swartz worked as an RN at a skilled nursing center and as a medical assistant. She holds an Associate of Science, Nursing, from Lawrence Memorial Regis College.

Hopkinton resident Michelle White worked at Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham since 1997, first as a certified nursing assistant, then lead anesthesia technician, and became a staff nurse in 2008. She earned an Associate of Science, Nursing, and an Associate of Arts, concentration in human services, from Massachusetts Bay Community College. She is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.

Westborough resident Madison Owen worked as a pediatric home care registered nurse, as a licensed nursing assistant and as an activities assistant. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Massachusetts – Lowell.

Talia Cramer, formerly of Weston and now living in Maynard, worked as a nursing assistant. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Simmons University School of Nursing and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a gerontology focus from The University of Vermont.

Watertown resident Molly Boudreau, formerly of Malden, worked as a certified nursing assistant in a memory care unit, assisted living and a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center. She graduated from Salem State University in May 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

“Nurse residents are hired as nurse case managers when they start and build their caseloads throughout the residency,” said Susan Lysaght Hurley, Care Dimensions director of research and program lead. “We look for someone who has the passion and interest in a career in end-of-life care, who has had success in school and in a prior job and is committed to learning more. It’s a very competitive program.”

In March 2022, Care Dimensions will begin accepting applications for its next nurse residency class. To learn more about the Nurse Residency Program, see http://bit.ly/CDNurseResidency.
