Care Dimensions Appoints Stephanie Patel, MD, MBA, to President & CEO

Care Dimensions, the largest hospice and palliative care organization in Massachusetts, announced today that after a rigorous, nationwide search, Stephanie Patel, MD, MBA, has been selected to succeed Patricia Ahern as president and CEO. Patel has served as chief medical officer at Care Dimensions since 2006 and assumes her new role on June 3, 2022. Ahern is retiring after five years of company leadership.

“Dr. Patel, a nationally recognized leader in hospice and palliative care, has the essential clinical expertise and business acumen that is essential to take Care Dimensions into the next generation,” said John Collins, Care Dimensions Board Chair. “Over the last 16 years at Care Dimensions, in addition to directing the medical component of all clinical programs, Dr. Patel has developed specialized patient programs, recruited and mentored clinical teams, and educated and engaged clinical referral partners to increase patients’ access to quality hospice and palliative care. Additionally, her leadership and commitment to quality of care have been critical factors in Care Dimensions’ recognition as a national Circle of Life award winner and as a Modern Healthcare Best Places to Work in Healthcare recipient.”

I will continue to work with our teams and referral partners to increase awareness, access and develop innovative programs to continue to support patients living with advanced illnesses.”

Board certified in hospice and palliative care medicine, family medicine and as a hospice medical director, Dr. Patel is a graduate of Temple University School of Medicine and holds an MBA from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Prior to joining Care Dimensions, she served as a hospice medical director and palliative care physician in the Fairview Health System in Minneapolis. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, lectures locally and nationally on hospice and palliative care, and teaches physicians as part of the Harvard Palliative Care Medicine Fellowship Program.
