Liesbeth Tryzelaar, MD, M.Sc., Joins Care Dimensions as Staff Physician

November 5, 2021

Care Dimensions, the largest hospice and palliative care organization in Massachusetts, is pleased to announce that Liesbeth Tryzelaar, MD, M.Sc., of Cambridge, has joined as a staff physician serving patients in our Greater Boston communities and the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln. She has been working with Care Dimensions since February 2020 as a per diem physician. In addition to leading an interdisciplinary care team and overseeing the medical care of hospice patients, she will teach area medical students and palliative care fellows on rotation at Care Dimensions.

“Building on my experience as a hospitalist focused on hospitalized patients dealing with serious illnesses, I found my calling in palliative care,” Tryzelaar says. “I want to help patients through tough decisions and focus on improving the quality of their life for as long as possible. I want their choices to be honored, and to provide support for all aspects of their care: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.”

Dr. Tryzelaar received her medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and a Master of Science in human osteology and funerary archaeology from University of Sheffield, West Yorkshire, UK. She did her internship and residency in internal medicine at Boston Medical Center. She completed a fellowship in geriatric medicine at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass., and a fellowship in palliative care medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Prior to joining Care Dimensions, she has been a hospitalist physician at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport, Maine; Spaulding Hospital Cambridge; and, most recently, Emerson Hospital in Concord, Mass.
