How can we help?
DANVERS, MA – In September, Care Dimensions celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the Kaplan Family Hospice House, the first licensed inpatient hospice facility in the state of Massachusetts. Since its opening in 2005 the staff has cared for more than 7,500 patients and the house has been host to many of life’s most important moments – birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, holidays, Shabbat gatherings, veteran recognition ceremonies and family and friend reunions.
“Ten years ago, members of our community, our staff, volunteers and donors came together to make the vision of the Kaplan Family Hospice House--where patients could receive hospital-level, compassionate care in a serene home-like setting--a reality," said Care Dimensions President Diane Stringer.
"It has become a beacon in the community for exemplary end-of-life care and well known for its tremendous support of patients, families and caregivers.” Originally designed with 12 private patient suites, eight new suites were added in 2010 to meet a growing need. Over the years the Kaplan House has served patients from across the state, oftentimes caring for residents from Boston and the MetroWest area.
To meet the unmet need of patients and families in these communities, Care Dimensions is planning to replicate the success of the Kaplan House with an 18-bed facility on the Lincoln/Waltham line. The plan has received approval in Lincoln and is progressing through the City of Waltham for final approval.
