How can we help?
Care Dimensions, the largest hospice and palliative care provider in Massachusetts, celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Kaplan Family Hospice House at a special gala event, held on Thursday, June 12 at Kernwood Country Club in Salem. The event brought together community supporters, staff, and volunteers to honor two decades of compassionate end-of-life care at the first-of-its-kind facility in Massachusetts.
The gala raised $214,000 to support the Kaplan Family Hospice House, which has served thousands of families since opening its doors in 2005. The funds will directly support patient care services and continue the facility's mission of providing comfort, dignity, and specialized care during life's most challenging moments.
"Events like tonight remind us of the incredible generosity and compassion of our community," said Heather Johnston, Vice President and Chief Development Officer at Care Dimensions. “The support we received this evening will help ensure that the Kaplan House remains a warm, welcoming, and well-maintained home for hospice care for the next 20 years and beyond. We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us in celebrating this milestone."
The evening featured moving testimonials from families who have been served by the Kaplan Family Hospice House, highlighting the impact of hospice care on both patients and their loved ones. The gala also honored two individuals whose vision and leadership were instrumental in making the house a reality: Former President & CEO Diane Stringer and former Board of Directors member Tom Ford.
"Twenty years ago, our leaders envisioned a place where families could find peace and comfort during some of the most difficult times of their lives," said Dr. Stephanie Patel, MD, President and CEO of Care Dimensions. "At this event, we celebrated not just the milestone of two decades, but the countless families who have found solace, support, and dignity at the Kaplan House. This anniversary reminds us why this work matters so deeply."
The Kaplan Family Hospice House is one of two inpatient hospice facilities operated by Care Dimensions, along with the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, which opened in 2018. Together, these facilities provide specialized hospice care in a comfortable, home-like environment for hundreds of patients and families each year.
