Swampscott DPW Director Supports Tree of Lights, Especially for Mom

Posted on December 4, 2020 by Robin Ellington

Celebrating his 18th year of stringing the lights on the Swampscott Tree of Lights, Gino Cresta, director of the Swampscott Department of Public Works, is grateful for Care Dimensions. Every year as he undertakes the task, he is motivated by his memory of the home hospice care Care Dimensions provided to his mother, Florence, in 2004.

“The staff of Care Dimensions are saints,” says Cresta. “The nurses, the social workers and the support staff attach themselves to their patients in a very short time and the care they give is heartfelt. I looked forward to each one of them coming to the house. They showed up at my mom’s wake and stood in line for hours – the line went around the block – just to pay their respects to my mom. I will always remember that.”

The Swampscott Tree of Lights will be featured in this year’s tree-lighting ceremony on Tuesday, December 8th at 5:30 p.m., broadcast this year at www.CareDimensions.org/TreeCeremony. Please tune in to view the ceremony, from the comfort and warmth of your home, when we will illuminate lights across the community to honor those who have brightened our lives. You do not need a password to join.

It's not too late to light a light. Names will be added to the Honor Roll book as they are received. Your donation to the Tree of Lights is a testament to your exceptional caring for loved ones lost. Your gift enables Care Dimensions to provide essential physical, emotional, and spiritual support to terminally ill patients and their families, and we thank you.
