Dr. Kathleen Faulkner joined Care Dimensions in October of 2020 as a part-time administrative hospice physician who composes Certificate of Terminal Illness documentation.
Initially trained as a pediatric oncologist, Dr. Faulkner helped families care for their dying children at home before there was a hospice Medicare benefit. She spoke at the first pediatric hospice national conference, was an initial member of the nascent Academy of Hospice Physicians and served on the AAHPM board and executive committee. She participated in the beta versions of hospice and palliative medicine boards and is now board certified. Prior to semi-retirement, she worked as a hospice medical director in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, most recently with VNA Care Hospice and Good Shepherd Hospice.
Dr. Faulkner earned her medical degree from Kansas University School of Medicine and did her pediatric oncology training at Children’s Orthopedic Hospital in Seattle and Boston Children’s Hospital. She has taught hospice and palliative medicine fellows and graduate students at Harvard and Tufts University medical schools and has authored numerous professional publications.
