How can we help?
Electric Insurance Company® in Beverly, MA, has served General Electric employees and the general public for more than 50 years, but despite all the growth and changes, one thing remains the same: our dedication to the community.
Our Community Involvement Team at Electric (CITE) program engages employees through volunteering and fundraising for local organizations, including Care Dimensions, which offers an incredibly compassionate and crucial service to our community.
Electric Insurance has supported Care Dimensions since 2000, and we’ve been a Walk for Hospice sponsor since 2009. I’m proud that our company supports Care Dimensions’ mission and its clients because I know how important it is to have quality hospice care available.
In 2008, my 93-year-old grandmother suffered a stroke that left her paralyzed on one side of her body, resulting in an extended period of rehabilitation. About a year into her rehab, her health took a quick decline. My parents, sisters and I all knew that we wanted her to be home so we could be with her around the clock and she could be surrounded by the comforts of home. This is when we met with a team from Care Dimensions and they explained how my grandmother could benefit from their services.
Care Dimensions arranged for a hospital bed and other equipment to be delivered to our home and assigned a nurse who educated us on how we could best care for my grandmother. During her last few weeks, we were able to surround my grandmother 24/7 with love; it was so empowering and comforting to have the chance to participate in her care. We were able to be with her, holding her hand, speaking to her and being at peace because we were all together…home…as a family. The Care Dimensions team supported us through every step, and we were able to grieve and process our emotions during this difficult time.
My interactions with Care Dimensions’ services didn’t end then, however. Years later, my father was diagnosed with stage IV melanoma. Care Dimensions was there for us once again, and gave us options that helped us navigate my dad’s end-of-life journey when we felt powerless and lost. My dad received hospice care from Care Dimensions while in the hospital, and my mother, sisters and I were able to offer comfort, support and peace to him — just like we did with my grandmother.
No two circumstances or events’ timing are the same, and our family appreciates that Care Dimensions offers their services to best meet patients’ and families’ needs. After the heartbreaking passing of my dad, Care Dimensions helped me navigate this seemingly unbearable loss, and I took advantage of their bereavement services and support groups. The team was compassionate and caring and showed genuine care for me well after my father passed. I will forever be grateful to Care Dimensions for the care, support and compassion its team members have shown me and my family.
Electric Insurance strives to support local organizations, especially ones that have had a positive impact on our employees. Care Dimensions is particularly important, as many of our associates have personal connections to it and have benefitted from its services. Our employees’ firsthand experiences with the benefits of Care Dimensions’ hospice, palliative care and grief support services make Electric Insurance proud to support Care Dimensions and the Walk for Hospice.
