Kaplan Family Hospice House Offers Alternative to Hospitalization

Located off Route 128 in a quiet residential neighborhood in Danvers (directions), Kaplan House is a warm, homelike setting where patients receive hospital-level medical care, comfort and support. Private suites overlook landscaped gardens and comfortable common areas include a welcoming kitchen, family rooms, children’s play areas, a chapel and library. Friends and family are welcome any time.

A Home Away From Home

Kaplan House, the first freestanding hospice facility in Massachusetts licensed to provide hospital-level care, offers:

Private suites with wheelchair-accessible bathrooms
Private patios overlooking landscaped gardens and wetlands. Patient beds can be wheeled outside.

Care Dimensions’ hospice houses specialize in:

Inpatient/acute hospice care: For patients with complex pain and symptom management issues that require round-the-clock nursing care. For most patients, their insurance will cover the cost of the stay. Learn more.

‘In the End, It’s All About Family’

So Lisa O'Neill's dream could come true, to see her daughter accept her diploma at Saint Anselm College, her family, her Care Dimensions hospice team and college officials collaborated to stage a special event that was livestreamed so she could watch it from her hospital bed at home, with her family and her Care Dimensions hospice team beside her.

Audias Escobar moved from Guatelmala to Boston to pursue his American Dream in 2005. With his health rapidly declining, he wanted to secure a bright future for his daughter. His Care Dimensions hospice team helped him make arrangements for his daughter's continued care and for a final trip home.

When Dr. Mayo Johnson's pain and symptoms were too much to manage at home, his family turned to the clinical team at Kaplan House to provide expert care and a peaceful, comfortable environment for their whole family.

Celebrating Special Moments at Kaplan House

One of Elaine Saad's final wishes was to help celebrate her son's wedding. Within hours, Kaplan House staff pulled together a wedding blessing so Elaine could participate.

Community volunteers Henrietta Goodwin and Marilyn Brauss donate their talents to create prayer squares and quilts that are given to patients at Care Dimensions’ Kaplan Family Hospice House.
