How can we help?
Planned giving is one of the most powerful ways you can make an impact. It allows many donors to make a larger charitable gift than they thought possible, reduce their tax burden, and create a lasting positive impact for future patients and families in need of hospice care in our community.
We invite you to become a member of our giving society as a tribute to someone who has touched your life. Thanks to your donation, others will receive the gifts of comfort, peace and dignity in the caring hands of our dedicated professionals and trained volunteers.
A bequest is one of the most common ways to make a planned gift. This is done through your will with the help of a legal advisor. You can give a set dollar amount, percentage of your estate, or personal property. See below for sample language:
“I give, devise, and bequeath to Care Dimensions, Inc., a tax-exempt organization under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (Federal Tax ID# 22-2873792 ), _____ percent (%) of my total estate determined as of the date of my death, designated as: an unrestricted gift used at its discretion, or to be used to support the _____________Fund.”
Another way to make a planned gift is to designate all or part of your insurance policy, IRA or retirement plan be donated to Care Dimensions. These gifts are easy to put in place and do not require updating your will. Simply name Care Dimensions as a beneficiary of your policy or plan.
You also can choose to give real estate or stocks, and IRA holders can make qualified charitable donations of up to $100,000 after age 70.5 to reduce their taxable income.
As a not-for-profit organization, Care Dimensions is fully qualified to receive tax-deductible donations as provided by law.
The David Sherman Legacy Society was founded in 2011 to recognize individuals who have made a provision for Care Dimensions in their estate plans, to recognize the largest bequest received in our history and to honor David Sherman's memory. Born in Lynn, Mr. Sherman was a graduate of Swampscott High School. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and later owned a Swampscott furniture store for many years. Known for his philanthropy during his lifetime, Mr. Sherman regularly made generous gifts to Care Dimensions and many other charitable organizations. Mr. Sherman passed away in 2008 at the age of 101.

Care Dimensions’ supportive care for his mother, partner Jan, and brother Paul left Mark O'Donnell with a desire to give back to Care Dimensions. This year, he joined the David Sherman Legacy Society, whose members have made a provision for Care Dimensions in their estate plans.
In the spring of 2016 the Didios lost two members of their family. Within four days of each other, John and his mother, Jacqueline died at the Kaplan Family Hospice House.
