Team Murphy: Good Hospice Care Extends Good Life

Team Murphy: Good Hospice Care Extends Good Life

Posted on September 27, 2018 by Janet Zipes in Donors,  Hospice

It’s been a little over a year since Marilyn Favreau’s mother, Kathleen Murphy, died from complications of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. Despite the significance of that loss, Marilyn finds solace in knowing that her mother’s wishes were honored and that the last year of her life was spent at home in Lynn, MA, cared for by family and by Care Dimensions.    Te...

Taking a Walk That Matters for High School Classmate

Taking a Walk That Matters for High School Classmate

Posted on September 4, 2018 by Kate Costin in Donors,  Hospice,  Kaplan Family Hospice House,  Walk for Hospice

I wanted to remember my friend and do something positive in her memory, so I thought, “What better way than the Walk for Hospice?” It would be nice if I could get some of our classmates together to raise money for hospice patients and their families in Debbie’s memory. ...

Supporting My Community Through the Walk for Hospice

Supporting My Community Through the Walk for Hospice

Posted on August 13, 2018 by Chris Culkeen in Donors,  Walk for Hospice

I’ve always strongly believed in giving back to my community, so when a friend of mine asked me in 1997 if I would donate a few hours of my time as master of ceremonies at the Walk for Hospice in my hometown of Danvers, MA, I immediately said yes. ...

‘Volunteer Vikings’ Go the Extra Mile at Walk for Hospice

Posted on August 6, 2018 by Fran Clements in Donors,  Volunteers,  Walk for Hospice

I meet a lot of people who want to give back to our organization because they are grateful for the compassionate care their loved ones received at end of life, and I too have been down that road and wanted to give back. After being asked to form a Walk for Hospice team, my husband, two sisters, and a couple of volunteers formed our team called the Volunteer Vikings. ...

We are so grateful that my grandfather was able to be comfortable and die a peaceful death at the Kaplan House. While Papa’s Crew honors my grandfather’s memory, we hope to also raise awareness about Care Dimensions and the need to support its important work in end-of-life care. ...

Taking the Walk for Hospice to Heart

Taking the Walk for Hospice to Heart

Posted on August 2, 2018 by Lili Sanchez in Donors,  Walk for Hospice

When some fellow employees from the Provider Relations department at Care Dimensions issued a Walk for Hospice challenge earlier this year, I saw an opportunity. Not only could I form a Walk team of co-workers and raise money, but I could raise awareness about Care Dimensions' cardiac program, which I manage. We call our team The Heart Beats. Made up of 16 members from various departments, we're spreading the word about the cardiac program. ...

Team Cindy and Traditions at Walk for Hospice

Team Cindy and Traditions at Walk for Hospice

Posted on August 2, 2018 by Bruce Billingham in Donors,  Volunteers,  Walk for Hospice

My family and I became associated with Care Dimensions in 2006, when my wife, Cynthia Spearing Billingham, was admitted to the Kaplan Family Hospice House for end-of-life care. The care and support that Cindy and all of us received from the Kaplan House staff was a blessing we will never forget. I felt that one of the best ways that we could remember Cindy and keep her spirit alive was to participate in the Walk for Hospice, so our children, Dayna and Chase, helped me form Team Cindy that fall. For each year thereafter, Team Cindy has been a supporting force for Care Dimensions. ...

Honoring Meme’s Memory at Walk for Hospice

Posted on August 2, 2018 by Glenn Boutchie, Jr. in Donors,  Kaplan Family Hospice House,  Walk for Hospice

On the morning of the 2008 Walk for Hospice, it was raining. Meme had said she wanted to go, but we figured the bad weather might change her mind. I woke her up and asked if she still wanted to go with us. “Of course,” she said. “It’s a beautiful day!” She was so happy that she was doing what she wanted to do. ...

Ipswich Coach Woodworth's Legacy Lives On

Posted on August 2, 2018 by Maureen Woodworth in Donors,  Kaplan Family Hospice House

In October of 2015, Doug was diagnosed with a rare brain disease and given three months to live. That’s when I called Care Dimensions. They immediately helped set my mind at ease. Care Dimensions allowed me to provide a wonderful experience for Doug in his journey through end of life. They allowed me and my family to enjoy every moment with Doug in a home-like setting and if there was anything we needed they were right there for us. ...

‘Dad’s Dream Team’ Lives on at Walk for Hospice

Posted on July 5, 2018 by Denise Meehan and the DeVeau Family in Donors,  Hospice,  Walk for Hospice

When we learned that Care Dimensions was having its annual Walk for Hospice that September, we all agreed that we wanted to take part. Dad was so excited to participate also. We came up with a team name, “Dad's Dream Team,” and had T-shirts made that captured the essence of our dad - a happy guy sitting in his recliner giving the thumbs up. ...
