Members of the Heart Beats raise money for the Care Dimensions Walk for Hospice and raise awareness about Care Dimensions' specialty cardiac program for hospice patients.
Taking the Walk for Hospice to Heart
Posted on August 2, 2018 by Lili Sanchez
When some fellow employees from the Provider Relations department at Care Dimensions issued a Walk for Hospice challenge earlier this year, I saw an opportunity.
Not only could I form a Walk team of co-workers and raise money, but I could raise awareness about
Care Dimensions’ cardiac program, which I manage.
We call our team The Heart Beats, and we have 16 members from various departments. We’re spreading the word about the cardiac program, which helps hospice patients with advanced cardiac disease better manage their symptoms. This results in fewer trips to the hospital and better quality of life.
One of the ways we raise funds is through our “Get a Heart” incentive. For a donation of $1 or more, we inscribe the name of a donor’s loved one on a paper heart and will wear it during the
Care Dimensions Walk for Hospice. Each team member is trying to raise between $20 and $100 this way.
We’re also raffled off two VIP tickets to the Phantom Gourmet Food Festival. The “Get a Heart” incentive and the food festival chances have yielded more than $600, which goes to show that a lot of small donations procured by our teammates really add up. And that’s what makes the Walk for Hospice so successful: teams of all sizes – whether it’s two or 20 – pull together for Care Dimensions.
