Woburn veteran recognized by Care Dimensions

WOBURN — Jennifer Murray, of Woburn, was among those who received honorable mention by the Greater Boston We Honor Veterans Award given by Care Dimensions.

Award recipients for 2016 were Ed Carr, of Framingham, Lt. Greg Kelly, of Dorchester, and Robert Upton, of Belmont. Honorable mention was also being given to Robert Eagle, of Waltham, Robert Cahillane, of Northampton, Peter Sherran, of Pelham, New Hampshire, and Albert Williams, of Randolph.

These individuals were nominated by members of the community for their commitment to improving the lives of veterans. All recipients will be honored at an awards breakfast Nov. 2 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at The American Legion Nonantum Post 440, 295 California St., Newton.

As a Level Four Partner of the We Honor Veterans program, Care Dimensions has joined together with the U.S. Department of the Veterans’ Affairs and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization to empower hospice professionals to meet the unique needs of dying veterans. The program teaches respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgement to comfort patients with a history of military service and possibly physical or psychological trauma.

“Care Dimensions is dedicated to promoting and providing the highest quality end-of-life care for our veterans and to educating community organizations who also provide services for veterans,” said Sheryl Meehan, director of volunteer services and chair of the veterans committee at Care Dimensions.
