Massachusetts’ Largest Provider of Hospice Services Changes Name
Massachusetts’ largest nonprofit provider of hospice services changed its name to Care Dimensions in January, to more accurately reflect the wide range of services it provides and its broad geographic scope. Founded in 1978 as Hospice of the North Shore, Care Dimensions continue its long history of providing hospice, palliative care and support services to those facing advanced illness. “We are excited about our new name and brand,” said Diane Stringer, President & CEO, Care Dimensions. “Care Dimensions better expresses the spectrum of services that we offer to address the multiple needs of changing patient populations in an ever expanding healthcare environment. The new name further communicates the many dimensions of our care, which is provided by our physicians, nurses, chaplains, social workers, aides and other clinicians trained in advanced illness, palliative care, hospice care, bereavement and healing,” said Stringer.
The nonprofit, which acquired Partners Hospice in 2011, now provides care to more than 550 hospice patients daily and to hundreds more through its palliative care and bereavement support programs. In addition, it runs the Kaplan Family Hospice House, a 20-bed inpatient hospice facility in Danvers. Plans are underway for a second inpatient hospice facility on the Lincoln and Waltham line. Care Dimensions also offers an array of specialized programs including care for chronic conditions such as heart or lung disease, pediatric hospice, veteran’s initiatives and Jewish hospice program.
Board of Directors Chair, Peter Sherwood said, “While our name may be different what will not change are our people and our mission. We will continue to enrich the quality of life of those affected by life-limiting illness, death, and loss by providing exceptional care, support, education, and consultation.”
