A new blanket warmer at the Care Dimensions Hospice House will keep patients more comfortable.

Care Dimensions Receives $18,000 Grant from Parmenter Foundation

May 31, 2024

Care Dimensions, the largest hospice and palliative care provider in Massachusetts, is proud to announce receiving an $18,000 grant from The Parmenter Foundation, which provides support for residents of MetroWest communities in need of end-of-life care or bereavement services. The grant will fund several initiatives at Care Dimensions, a non-profit organization which cares for over 1,500 patients each day.

Among the projects being funded is the purchase of a blanket warming device for the Care Dimensions Hospice House, an 18-bed facility in Lincoln. The electronic device heats up blankets, which can then be delivered to hospice patients.

“The warmed blankets provide our patients an extra sense of feeling comfort and cared for,” said Tracy Boynton, Clinical Director at the Hospice House. “Whether the patient feels a chill in their room or perhaps after a bath, a nice warm blanket can make a big difference in their level of comfort. That’s something our staff here is always seeking to provide.”

Other programs which are being renewed through this grant:

  • Virtual Reality Program: This program allows hospice patients to virtually tour places special to them or destinations they've wanted to visit but can no longer travel to, reducing stress and anxiety while supporting positive life reflection.
  • “Pocket Talkers:” These hearing amplification devices help hearing-impaired hospice patients remain engaged with loved ones, personal interests, and their hospice team.
  • Mobile Integrated Health Program: This service supplements our regular care team, delivering fast, in-home clinical care during nights and weekends, often preventing the need for emergency transport or hospitalization.

“We are so thankful to have a community partner like The Parmenter Foundation,” said Dr. Stephanie Patel, President and CEO at Care Dimensions. “Their continued support over the years has benefitted countless patients across the MetroWest region, helping us to provide compassionate end-of-life care to those in need.”

"We feel so fortunate to have a partnership with Care Dimensions that gives Parmenter the opportunity to enhance the care and comfort of hospice patients in our community,"  said Angela Crocker, Executive Director of The Parmenter Foundation.
