Care Dimensions Statement on the Passing of President Jimmy Carter

Care Dimensions is saddened to learn of the passing of former President Jimmy Carter and extends our deepest condolences to the entire Carter family, and those who found inspiration in his life’s work.

In February 2023, President Carter made the decision to entrust his care to hospice in his hometown of Plains, Georgia. The expert medical care that hospice brings to patients focuses on quality of life. Hospice care is found to be most beneficial when the patient and family can receive care early enough to access the full continuum of hospices services, allowing for improved quality of life, emotional support, and meaningful time together. 

“President Carter not only chose hospice, but did so publicly, so that others can learn about the benefits that hospice can provide,” said Dr. Stephanie Patel, President & CEO at Care Dimensions. “His nearly two-year journey in hospice care highlights its profound value, challenging the misconception that hospice is solely for the final days of life. His experience illustrates how hospice can provide comfort, dignity, and compassion for those navigating life’s final chapter.
