Volunteer Training and Support

Comprehensive Training and Ongoing Support

Every Care Dimensions volunteer is required to complete a free and comprehensive training program before being assigned a volunteer job. The 16-hour program covers such topics as:

  • Care Dimensions’ philosophy
  • Grief and loss
  • How to be prepared
  • What to expect
  • Safety precautions
  • Tips for working with patients who are in the last stages of an advanced illness

During each session, there are opportunities to ask questions, share concerns and feelings and learn from other volunteers about their experiences. The sessions are also an opportunity to share the camaraderie that so many of our volunteers tell us is an important reason why they continue to serve.
